Not even wet and windy weather could dampen the festive spirit in Letchworth on Saturday, as thousands of visitors flocked to the town centre for the annual Christmas Lights Switch-On, hosted by Love Letchworth.
Crowds gathered throughout the afternoon as the stage came alive with performances from 12pm. Theatretrain Letchworth, BX Dance Academy, and local favourites Dirty Half Hundred were among some of the talented acts who kept energy high and audiences cheering despite the rain.
One of the highlights of the day was the dazzling Light Parade, which wound its way through the town in a glow of colour and creativity. The parade featured cars wrapped in twinkling fairy lights, Harpenden Pipers, towering illuminated stilt walkers, bouncing snowmen, The Grinch, Letchworth RFC Lionesses, Auntie Kitty, Sabihah School of Belly Dance, Garden City Samba and an array of vibrant costume characters – all bringing joy and spectacle to the streets.
Smiles could be seen everywhere as families embraced the festive fun, umbrellas in hand. The magical moment came when Robots Search for Snow pressed the big switch, lighting up Letchworth for the Christmas season. The celebrations continued into the evening with a lively finale from Swanvesta, who had the crowd dancing and singing along.
Love Letchworth extended heartfelt thanks to the entire community:

We are so grateful to everyone who braved the weather to join us and make this event truly special. What an amazing community we have here in Letchworth. A huge thank you as well to all the traders and performers who showed up with enthusiasm and helped create such a memorable day.
